When you open a link from a social media app on your phone, it may open inside an in-app browser instead of your device’s default browser. Image downloads do not work in in-app browsers, so you won’t be able to download or save the image properly from there.
To help with this, a pop-up message will appear to let you know that downloads do not work in in-app view, along with an option to open the page in your device’s browser.
If you see this message, follow the prompt to open the page in your external/default browser before downloading the image.
If no pop-up appears, you can still do this manually in one of the following ways:
If you opened the link from a social media app (such as Instagram, X, or Facebook), tap the menu (usually ⋯ or the share icon) and select Open in external browser or Open in Chrome (label may vary).
If that option isn’t available, copy the link and paste it directly into your browser, then try downloading again.
