Routine changes to your account, like updating your login email or disconnecting a Google account, don't affect an active grant. Your grant is checked against the academic email you were approved with, not whatever your account currently shows.
What does and doesn't affect your grant
What you do | Effect on your grant
|
Change your login email | None |
Unlink your Google account | None |
Change your login email to a different academic address | None. Your next extension still verifies your original approved address. |
One thing to know
If you remove or change the specific academic email your grant was approved with, you'll see a notice reminding you that you'll need an eligible academic email on your account to extend your grant later. This is a heads-up. It doesn't stop you from making the change.
If your academic email is actually closing
This article covers incidental changes that don't affect anything. If your academic mailbox itself is about to stop working and you want to keep your grant going, that's a different, deliberate process. Read My school email is closing. How do I keep my grant? instead.
